Origin story
From idea to ink
Orville Evjen grew up in South Dakota, part Native American, with a pencil in his hand almost before anything else. Drawing wasn't a hobby — it was how he made sense of the world. Those early years laid the foundation for everything Brave Crow Comics would become.
He studied graphic design at Bismarck State College, then sharpened his craft through the Joe Kubert School of Art — one of the most respected comic art programs in the world — where he learned inking and sequential storytelling from the ground up. In 2004, he self-published his first graphic novel, a historical work on Lewis and Clark, proving early on that he wasn't waiting for anyone's permission to tell his stories.
Every title in the Brave Crow lineup — from the hard sci-fi tension of Iron Meridian to the folklore roots of Native American Tales of Legend — comes directly from Orville's imagination and lived experience. No corporate filter. No committee. Just a creator, his heritage, and his stories.

Final lettering, color, and production bring everything together. Each issue is self-published and available in print and digital formats.
